Azores, an archipelago of unparalleled charms in the middle of the Atlantic. The Azorean islands, sculpted by volcanoes and bathed by a deep ocean, offer a blend of green landscapes and turquoise waters. With a rich history and vibrant festivities, each island tells a unique story. The journey between the islands, with heart-stopping views, promises adventures and discoveries in every corner of this isolated paradise.

Faial, Pico, and São Jorge emerge as jewels of the Atlantic, each with its unique charms. In Faial, the blue sea blends with vibrant hydrangeas, while Pico rises majestically with its imposing peak challenging the skies. São Jorge, winding through the ocean, offers a lush tapestry of fajãs. We decided to explore all three, sailing from island to island, each crossing revealing views that promise to be etched in memory.

Faial, an island of stunning contrasts in the heart of the Azores. Shaped by historic eruptions, the island boasts lush craters and winding coasts. The vibrant port of Horta is a global meeting point for sailors. The landscape is an invitation to discovery, promising unforgettable experiences at every step on this Atlantic pearl.

Pico, the island that touches the sky in the Azores, is dominated by its majestic namesake volcano. UNESCO heritage vineyards intertwine with the black lava, creating a mosaic of rare beauty. The ever-present sea offers refuge to whales and dolphins, while the mountainous trails call to adventurous spirits.

Itinerary

Day 1: Departure from Lisbon and Faial Island

The adventure begins with the departure from Lisbon towards the stunning Faial Island. Check-in at the residence.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Capelinhos Volcano Crater, a dramatic landscape resulting from the last major volcanic eruption in the archipelago, in 1957. This place offers a unique insight into the power of nature and its ability to transform.

Day 2: Faial Island

The second day in Faial will be dedicated to the city of Horta, famous for its colorful marina that attracts sailors from around the world. Stroll through the historic center, visit the iconic Peter Café Sport, and soak in the charming atmosphere of this coastal city.

In the afternoon, we will visit Almoxarife Beach to relax and enjoy the incredible view of Pico Mountain in the distance. After a day of exploration, we will take a boat to Pico Island.

Days 3-5: Pico Island

On Pico Island, the adventure continues with a variety of exciting activities for travelers to choose from.

  • Night Ascent to Pico Mountain (optional): For the more adventurous, the hike to the highest point in Portugal is a must-do. The hike is challenging, but the view from the top is worth every effort.

  • Whale and Dolphin Watching: A unique experience. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to see these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.

  • Exploring the Sounds and Botany of the Island: Guided hike through one of the island’s beautiful trails. Enjoy the sounds of birds, the sea, and the wind while exploring the island’s unique botanical diversity, revealing hidden secrets in the local flora.

  • Exploration of Gruta das Torres: One of the largest lava tubes in Portugal, a fascinating geological formation.

  • Visit to Lajido Area: Learn more about traditional viticulture and wine production by exploring this historic region of the island.

  • Authentic Cultural Experience: Participate in a lunch or dinner with a local family, enjoying delicious Azorean cuisine and the warm hospitality of the island's inhabitants.

Day 6: São Jorge Island

Departure by boat to São Jorge, one of the most picturesque islands in the Azores:

  • Island Tour: Enjoy a comprehensive tour of the island, discovering its stunning landscapes and unique features.

  • Visit to the Fajãs: Explore the famous fajãs, flat coastal formations created by landslides or lava, offering spectacular views.

  • Visit to Cheese Factory with Tasting: Visit a local cheese factory and participate in a tasting session, savoring the unique flavors of the region.

Day 7: Departure from Pico Island

After exploring the wonders of the Azores, departure will be from Pico Island. Enjoy your last moments on the island to relax and reflect on the incredible journey you've had, taking with you unforgettable memories of this Azorean adventure.

Meals:

  • Full board: Completely vegetarian meals (vegan and gluten-free options available but not included).

  • Meals will be organized by the group, and everyone is invited to participate in their preparation, experiencing one of the most important aspects: nourishing our bodies. We will take advantage of local products and seasonal offerings.

Transport:

  • In a 9-seater van. Accompanied by Carlos Martins or Liliana Martins, who will provide guidance and transport throughout the tour, daily program, and logistics. The tour will be conducted in Portuguese and/or English.
